Potiskum, Yobe State — The Honourable Member representing Potiskum Central Constituency at the Yobe State House of Assembly, Hon. Ahmed Adamu BBK (Sarkin Ado), has flagged off the construction of a borehole at Gandafura Primary School as part of efforts to improve access to clean water in the area.
The project is aimed at addressing the long-standing challenge of water scarcity affecting pupils, teachers, and residents of the Gandafura community. For years, the lack of potable water has posed serious difficulties, impacting both education and public health.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, Hon. Ahmed Adamu BBK reaffirmed his commitment to delivering people-oriented projects that directly improve the welfare of his constituents. He emphasized that access to clean water remains a fundamental necessity for sustainable community development.
According to him, the borehole project is a response to the pressing needs of the people, noting that beyond providing water, it will enhance hygiene, support education, and improve overall living conditions.
“This project is not just about water supply; it is about improving health standards, supporting our children’s education, and restoring dignity to our communities,” he said.
The initiative has been widely welcomed by community leaders, school authorities, and residents, who described the lawmaker as a “wakilin fita kunya” — a representative who brings pride and meaningful development to his people.
They noted that the borehole would relieve students of the burden of trekking long distances in search of water, thereby enabling them to focus more on their studies.
The management of Gandafura Primary School also expressed appreciation, stating that access to clean water would significantly boost sanitation, attendance, and the overall learning environment.
Residents of the community offered prayers for the successful and timely completion of the project, while commending the lawmaker’s dedication to grassroots development.
