His Royal Highness, the Mai of Pataskum, Alhaji Umaru Bubaram ibn Wuriwa Bauya, OON, led thousands of Muslim prayers at his palace in Potiskum, Yobe State.
Prayer session witnessed a massive turnout of worshippers drawn from different walks of life, including traditional title holders, religious scholars, government officials, youth groups, and women, all gathered in a solemn yet joyous atmosphere to mark the end of the sacred fasting period.
The palace grounds were filled with spiritual fervor as the faithful observed the two Raka’at Eid prayer, followed by a sermon emphasizing gratitude to Almighty Allah, peaceful coexistence, and the importance of sustaining the discipline, patience, and generosity cultivated during Ramadan.
Among the dignitaries present at the event was the Honourable Commissioner of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Ethical Orientation, who is also the District Head of Ngojin, Kaigaman Potiskum, Alhaji Yusuf Umar, whose presence further underscored the importance of unity between traditional and governmental leadership in fostering peace and development.
In his remarks shortly after the prayers, Alhaji Yusuf Umar called on the people of Yobe State and Nigerians at large to continue praying fervently for the peace, unity, and progress of the country. He stressed that the challenges facing the nation require collective prayers and unwavering support from citizens.
He also used the opportunity to commend the efforts of the Yobe State Governor, Hon. Dr. Mai Mala Buni, for his continued commitment to the development of the state, particularly in the areas of security, religious harmony, and social welfare. According to him, the Governor’s leadership has brought stability and hope to the people, especially during critical times.
Alhaji Yusuf Umar further urged the citizens to support the present administration at both state and federal levels, noting that meaningful development can only be achieved through cooperation, unity, and mutual understanding among the populace.
Similarly, in his address, the Mai of Pataskum reiterated the need for peaceful coexistence, urging residents to uphold the values of tolerance, kindness, and respect for one another beyond the Ramadan period. He emphasized that the true essence of Eid lies not only in celebration but in maintaining righteousness and extending goodwill to all.
The event also featured exchange of goodwill messages, prayers for leaders, and warm Eid greetings among attendees, reflecting the spirit of brotherhood, love, and communal harmony that defines the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
As the gathering dispersed peacefully, the message of unity, prayer, and collective responsibility echoed strongly among the people, leaving a renewed sense of hope and commitment toward building a better community, state, and nation.
